What happens during the training

  • Where do I go for training?
    Training for powerline apprenticeships is undertaken primarily at Aurora Energy's powerline training school which is located at 8 Mornington Road, Mornington and some external providers including TAFE. Upon completion of their training, apprentices are sent to their normal place of work to obtain on the job experience prior to their next block of training.

    Training for electrical apprenticeships is done through TAFE Tasmania.

  • When do I do the training?
    All apprentices attend an induction week at Aurora Energy Training for the commencement of their apprenticeship. Training plans are issued to all apprentices. After the induction week the Lineworker apprentices shall attend maths tuition week prior to undertaking their electrical module then their practical modules according to their plan, returning to their normal place of work when completed until their next module is due. Electrical and Mechanical apprentices attend TAFE as part of their training.

  • How long does the training take?
    Approximately 4 years for the apprenticeship program.
